Praising Allah and supplicating when you obtain new clothes reflects the courtesy of the sunnah.
When the Prophet (peace be upon him) obtained a new garment he would praise Allah. He supplicated saying, "Allahumma lakal-hamdu anta kasawtanih, as'aluka khayrahu wa khayra ma suni'a lah." This habit reminds us to see everything we own as a blessing from Allah.
