Drinking water and other drinks while seated is a sunnah of the Prophet.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) drank water while seated, in two or three breaths; he did not drink it all in one go like a camel. He said Bismillah when he began drinking and praised Allah when he finished. He did not breathe into the vessel, nor did he drink standing. Living this sunnah benefits both health and the spirit.
